Interactive Zoo in Oklahoma

We had so much fun this past weekend at the G.W. Interactive Zoo in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. We drove down Saturday afternoon and stopped in Oklahoma City at the Tanger Outlets to do some shopping and then headed another hour south towards our hotel. Sunday morning we got up and drove to the zoo. The tour started at 11:30am. We got to see all kinds of animals. The zoo is mostly known for the amount of Tigers they house, but in addition to Tigers, they have birds, bears, turtles, alligators, wolves, Bengal cats, skunks, kangaroos, snakes, reptiles and more. Guess which animal gave me a kiss....!?

Throughout the tour, you walk the grounds of the park and see all the different animals. You learn about the rescue efforts and stories that landed some of the animals a home here. We learned that Tigers are very close to becoming extinct over the next 10 years. A big contribution of several species becoming extinct is big game hunting where people kill tigers for trophy or sport. I hate to hear that and hope there’s something that can be done to end big game hunting before it’s too late.

One of the interactions included feeding a camel a treat, but not in the way you’d expect. I was instructed to place the treat between my lips and the camel would come in for a kiss. He was a gentleman about it. The kiss was a little ticklish, but overall enjoyable and unique lol.

Our next interaction was with a 6-week and 7-week old tiger cub. Cute but man oh man, their nails were sharp! The baby cub got playful and scratched me pretty good on my arms and leg. That just re-affirmed my lack of interest in interacting with a full-grown Tiger. We'll leave that to Joe!

The next animal we interacted with was a skunk. He was actually cute and fluffy. He laid in my arms and let me cradle him like a baby. *Awe*

Next, we stepped inside a cage with two wolves. The list of things I never thought I'd find myself say in life continued to grow while visiting the G.W. Zoo. The wolves were super friendly. We took turns petting them before moving on to the next exhibit.

Overall, the tour was a neat experience and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the zoo. Not many people get to say they've interacted with camels, tigers, and wolves...oh my! Thanks for the memories, G.W. Zoo!
