"Everyone should believe in something. I believe we should go to the beach."
Yay for weekend spontaneity! Zac and I decided to go to Hilton Head for the weekend. Even though Savannah has Tybee, Hilton Head offers more of a vacation type feel and there are more activities offered there.
We took the dogs with us and got a room at the Quality Inn. Our room was a short 5-minute bike ride to the beach.

It was pretty neat how each resort offered bike rentals. That's how a lot of people get around in the area we were in. Bike rentals were $30 for two people for 24-hours. We had so much fun just riding around the island.
The first day we spent the day on the beach. The weather was rough that afternoon so we attempted to head in as the clouds grew darker. We made it under the pavilion right as the rain let loose. It started down pouring! It rained intensely for the next 30-minutes or so. A group of us took shelter under the pavilion and waited for the storm to pass, checking radar frequently. When the skies finally opened back up, we rode our bikes back over to our hotel. For dinner, we checked out a local seafood restaurant where I enjoyed my first dish of Shrimp and Grits.
By our hotel was a pond with a sign reading, "Caution live alligator may live here." Zac has been obsessed with the idea of seeing a live alligator since he started his new job in Georgia and he heard there were alligator sightings in the area. We were cautious each time we rode by the pond, just in case it had decided to make an escape for it. Before we checked out of the hotel for the weekend, we ended up spotting him on dry land on the other side of the pond. Hi gator, bye gator!
